Agargaon:The government is committed to ensuring balanced development across all 503 upazilas, focusing on the interests of the people without regard to political or regional biases, announced Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Dr. Moyeen Khan emphasized that no upazila should receive more benefits than its neighbors during a discussion on solar power strategies held at the Cooperative Bhaban in Agargaon. The Minister highlighted the responsibility of the elected government to implement development initiatives that benefit all areas equally.

The event, organized by the Rural Development and Cooperatives Division, also featured State Minister Mir Shahe Alam. Dr. Moyeen Khan pointed out that government officials play a crucial role in serving the country's 180 million citizens and stressed the importance of evaluating their performance with adjustments in salaries to match the cost of living.

Despite limited resources, the government plans to implement these measures gradually. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has addressed annual salary adjustments in line with inflation during a Cabinet meeting, according to Dr. Moyeen Khan.

He further underscored the importance of expanding the use of solar power as conventional energy resources dwindle. Proper solar energy utilization could reduce costs and improve living standards, urging officials to work towards achieving these goals.

In addressing institutional capacity, suggestions to upgrade the Rural Development Board to a directorate are being considered seriously. Dr. Moyeen Khan emphasized the need for cooperative societies to be functional and welfare-oriented, with 250,000 currently registered across the country.

State Minister Mir Shahe Alam expressed hope that solar power would become a social movement. He announced plans for installing solar panels on educational institutions and marketplaces, with Tk 390 crore already allocated to local government institutions for this purpose.

Rural Development and Cooperatives Division Secretary Dr. Rafiqul I Mohamed presided over the program attended by various ministry officials and employees.
