Dhaka:Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat visited Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) to assess the situation after a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft made an emergency landing. The incident involved flight BG436, which was traveling from Cox's Bazar to Dhaka.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Dash 8 aircraft, with 78 passengers and four crew members on board, departed Cox's Bazar at 135 pm and was due to arrive in Dhaka at 230 pm. However, a technical issue with the nose landing gear, linked to a malfunction in the No. 2 hydraulic system, led the pilot to declare an emergency.

The emergency was reported to Area Control at 220 pm, while the aircraft was flying at an altitude of approximately 18,000 feet. Dhaka Tower was promptly informed, triggering emergency response procedures that involved placing airport fire and rescue teams on high alert. Coordinated efforts were made by airport authorities to prepare for aircraft marshalling and ensure the safety of passengers and crew.

Using an alternative procedure, the pilot successfully extended the nose landing gear, allowing the aircraft to land safely at HSIA at 309 pm. All individuals on board, including the 78 passengers and four crew members, were unharmed, thanks to the coordinated measures taken by airport authorities. Senior officials from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Biman, and other airport agencies closely monitored the situation to ensure a safe outcome.
