Dhaka:Prime Minister's Adviser and PMO spokesperson Mahdi Amin emphasized the government's vision for a unified Bangladesh where citizens are identified as Bangladeshis, not divided into minorities and majorities.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Amin made these remarks while inaugurating the Mahalaya celebration organized by the Gulshan-Banani Sarbojanin Puja Foundation at Banani Ground. He highlighted the government's plans to ensure equal rights, security, freedom, and dignity for all citizens, irrespective of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.

Amin urged people to work towards establishing truth and justice, aiming for a modern and harmonious Bangladesh that transcends religious divisions. He noted the government's increased support for Durga Puja celebrations, including extended public holidays and increased allocations for Puja mandaps, meeting longstanding community demands.

The essence of Mahalaya, Amin explained, is the victory of good over evil and the promise of a brighter future. He underscored Durga Puja's role in reinforcing Bangladesh's cultural traditions and communal harmony.

Highlighting the people's unity as Bangladesh's strength, Amin stated that the government's priorities lie in the interests of its citizens, national sovereignty, and public welfare. He concluded by urging collective effort towards national progress, encapsulated in the slogan "Bangladesh First."

Prominent figures, including Prime Minister's Special Assistant Bijon Kanti Sarkar and Indian Deputy High Commissioner Pawan Kumar Badhe, attended the event, which also featured a cultural program marking the start of the Sharadiya Durga Puja countdown.
