Dhaka:The recruitment examination for the post of Assistant Upazila Youth Development Officer under the Department of Youth Development was postponed today following allegations that the question paper had been circulated on social media.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the decision to postpone the exam was made about an hour before it was scheduled to start. This move aims to uphold transparency, protect the credibility of the recruitment process, and avoid significant financial waste.

A high-level investigation committee, led by Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mahfuzur Rahman, has been established to probe the incident. Director General of the Department of Youth Development Md Motaher Hossain emphasized the government's commitment to transparency, stating that they do not want to release exam results amid controversy.

The examination, planned for 242 positions of Assistant Upazila Youth Development Officer (11th grade), was set to begin at 1100 am today, with 319,000 candidates expected at 95 centers across Dhaka. Reports of the question paper leak surfaced after the papers were distributed to examination centers, prompting the postponement.

Motaher Hossain reiterated that the decision was made to ensure transparency and prevent financial waste. An investigation is underway to identify those involved in the leak, and legal action will be pursued against them.

The department has advised candidates to remain patient, noting that the exam will be rescheduled for next week with a new question paper, contingent on the availability of examination centers. Candidates will receive notifications of the new date via SMS and an official notice within the next two to three days.
