Dhaka:Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has planned extensive measures to ensure a peaceful and smooth celebration of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja, focusing on civic services around puja mandaps.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DSCC will set up a control room at Nagar Bhaban three days before the Puja begins. The control room will address issues related to faulty streetlights, roads, drainage, and civic order problems in areas near the puja mandaps, as announced by DSCC Administrator Md. Abdus Salam.
This initiative was revealed during the inauguration of the National Representatives' Conference, Mahalaya celebration, and clothes distribution event organized by the Bangladesh Sanatan Party at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
The administrator emphasized that the initiative's goal is to support the mandaps and ensure an environment conducive to providing necessary civic services during the religious festivities. He stated that instructions have been issued to repair damaged roads around puja mandaps within the next two days to facilitate uninterrupted movement of visitors during the festival.
Additionally, the DSCC has launched a special cleanliness drive to urgently clean drains and sewers near puja mandaps, ensuring proper waste management. The Administrator reiterated the commitment to provide civic amenities for residents of all faiths without discrimination.
Furthermore, financial assistance totaling Tk 19 lakh 80 thousand has been distributed to 168 puja mandaps under the DSCC, with an additional allocation of Tk 10 lakh for the historic Dhakeshwari National Temple.
