Bangladesh President Promises Support for Quran Education

Dhaka:President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that the government will promote Quran education and practice, while ensuring recognition and honor for Hafez and students who gain international acclaim.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the President made these remarks during a meeting with the winners of the 46th King Abdul Aziz International Holy Quran Competition at Bangabhaban. He expressed pride in the achievements of Bangladeshi contestants who succeeded against participants from 133 countries.

President Alamgir congratulated the winners, their educators, guardians, and institutions for their achievements. He recalled efforts by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia to bolster religious practices and institutions, emphasizing the current government's commitment to expanding religious education and honoring Hafez and Alem.

The winners, along with their guardians and teachers, expressed gratitude to the President for the invitation. They highlighted that recognizing talented students and scholars from religious institutions would motivate more individuals to pursue Quranic education, urging the government to take further initiatives in this regard.

President Alamgir acknowledged the religious devotion of the Bangladeshi population, predominantly Muslim, noting their historical sacrifices to uphold religious values. He assured that the government would prioritize the expansion and enhancement of religious education as Bangladesh undergoes significant changes.

The delegation, led by Maulana Md Billal Hossain, included notable contestants such as Hafez Mohammad Zakaria, who secured first place in the 15 Para Hifz, Tajweed and Beautiful Recitation category, among others. The President presented crests to the winners and courteous gifts to their families and teachers, with senior officials also in attendance.
