Man Sentenced to 60 Years for Rape of Two Young Girls

Bogura:A tribunal in Bogura has sentenced a man to 60 years of rigorous imprisonment for the rape of two six-year-old girls.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the convict, Nur Islam, 40, from Arola Ashrayan Project in Kahaloo upazila, received his sentence from Judge Md Maruf Hossain of the Bogura Children Violence Suppression Tribunal. The court handed down 30-year sentences for each of the two cases, to be served consecutively. Additionally, Nur was fined Tk 50,000 per case, with the total of Tk 1 lakh to be distributed to the victims' families.

The prosecution detailed that on March 12, 2025, Nur lured the children to his home with promises of food and money and then raped them. He threatened to kill the girls if they told anyone about the incident. The crime came to light the next day when one child developed a fever and the other experienced severe bleeding, prompting one of their mothers to file a report with Kahaloo Police Station.

Following the report, police rescued the children and admitted them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. Nur was subsequently arrested through a joint operation by police and the district Detective Branch.
