Dhaka:Gallery Cosmos and Cosmos Atelier-71 will host the 13th session of Cosmos Art Echo, featuring renowned Bangladeshi artist Tayeba Begum Lipi, on Friday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the event is titled 'Being and Belonging' and will take place at 5 pm at the Cosmos Centre in Malibagh, Dhaka. It aims to gather artists, art practitioners, researchers, educators, and art enthusiasts for an engaging dialogue with Lipi about her artistic journey, creative practices, and reflections on art, identity, and belonging in contemporary life.
Tayeba Begum Lipi, born in Gaibandha, holds an MFA from the Institute of Fine Arts, Dhaka University. She co-founded Britto Arts Trust, an artist-led organization promoting contemporary art and international artistic exchanges. Lipi has held 17 solo exhibitions and six duo exhibitions with her husband, Mahbubur Rahman, both in Bangladesh and internationally. Her artwork has been showcased in cities such as Singapore, Istanbul, and New York, and featured in esteemed institutions like the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Tate Modern.
She served as the commissioner of Bangladesh's Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011 and has been a jury member at various art exhibitions globally. Lipi’s international engagements include the Guggenheim UBS MAP Exhibition and the Thailand Biennale, among others. Her works are part of prestigious collections worldwide, and her contributions to the art world are documented in several publications. The Cosmos Art Echo session offers participants an opportunity to engage with Lipi on her extensive artistic practice.
