Dhaka:Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on global logistics company DP World to invest in Bangladesh, particularly in free trade zones and rail-based inland container depots (ICDs), to enhance the nation's trade and logistics infrastructure.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this request was made during a meeting at the Secretariat with a delegation led by DP World Board Chairman Essa Kazim. This partnership aims to modernize the terminal, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen Bangladesh's port and logistics capabilities.
The Prime Minister inquired about DP World's interest in new investments in Bangladesh, particularly in establishing free trade zones and rail-based ICDs. The delegation expressed its willingness to cooperate and invest in these sectors.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister invited DP World and other international investors to seize investment opportunities in Bangladesh. The meeting explored various possibilities for developing the country's port infrastructure, expanding regional trade, and enhancing the efficiency of Bangladesh's logistics system.
