Tokyo:A seminar titled "Human Resources, Trade, and Investment" was held at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, jointly organized by the embassy and the Japan-Bangladesh Human Resource Development Association (JBA).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was attended by JBA President, members, and embassy officials. Ambassador Mohammad Daud Ali emphasized the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and Japan, noting it as a symbol of mutual respect and trust beyond traditional diplomatic ties.
He highlighted the potential benefits of collaboration, given Japan's aging population and Bangladesh's young, skilled workforce. Commercial Counsellor Morarji Desai Barman discussed the economic partnership's growth, noting an increase in Bangladesh's exports to Japan from $1.23 billion in 2024 to $1.27 billion in 2025. He also mentioned Japanese involvement in major projects like the Matarbari Deep Sea Port and Dhaka Metro Rail, enhancing the logistics and investment landscape.
Counsellor (Labour) Zainal Abedin focused on human resources and institutional cooperation, presenting Bangladesh's advances in Japan's labor market. The Bangladesh government has established a "Japan Cell" to oversee the Technical Intern Training Programme and Specified Skilled Worker programme, aiding Bangladeshis interested in working or studying in Japan.
The seminar concluded with a networking session to foster communication and cooperation between stakeholders from both countries.
