Chattogram:The government has announced a set of coordinated measures aimed at bringing Jungle Salimpur in Chattogram under effective governance to eliminate terrorism and disorder in the area.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed revealed that these measures include increasing the presence of law enforcement agencies, enhancing infrastructure, rehabilitating illegal settlers, and managing government-owned land.
A coordination meeting involving representatives from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Chattogram Development Authority, Chattogram Deputy Commissioner, district administration, and various security agencies such as police, Border Guard Bangladesh, Special Response Battalion, and the Coast Guard, was held to discuss these plans. The Armed Forces Division also participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, the progress of the road network being constructed by the Engineering Construction Battalion was reviewed. The government is closely monitoring this development. Furthermore, plans are underway to establish a police academy modeled after the Police Academy at Sarda, with land currently being sought for this purpose.
The relocation of the Chattogram Central Jail to the area is also part of the plan, with 72 acres of land already acquired beside Bayezid Link Road for this relocation. Efforts will be made to rehabilitate illegal settlers and integrate educational and other institutions under government management.
To maintain security, land has been designated for police, Border Guard Bangladesh, Special Response Battalion, and Armed Police Battalion to build their facilities, ensuring a sustained security presence and effective governance.
