Keraniganj Official Steps Up for Abandoned Newborn’s Welfare

Keraniganj:Keraniganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Omor Faruk has assumed responsibility for the care and treatment of a newborn girl found abandoned in the area.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, local residents discovered the infant in a plastic bag in a bush by the roadside after hearing her cries. They promptly rescued the child and notified both the police and the upazila administration.

The UNO immediately instructed officials to ensure the newborn received medical attention. She was subsequently admitted to the local health complex, where doctors reported her condition as stable and out of danger.

The upazila administration is actively working under child welfare laws and legal procedures to secure the infant's safety and future well-being, including assigning her a name. Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to identify and locate the baby's biological parents or guardians.
