WHO and Bangladesh Discuss New Health Cooperation Strategy

Dhaka:Representatives from the World Health Organization (WHO) Bangladesh office met with State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. M A Muhit at the Bangladesh Secretariat to discuss the country's health sector.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting emphasized the need to formulate a new cooperation strategy that aligns with the current needs and future priorities of Bangladesh's health sector, as well as the government's plans.

The discussions included a review of the WHO Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) 2020-2026 and considerations for the formulation of the CCS 2027-2031.

Dr. Muhit outlined the government's various plans and priorities for the development of the health sector. He briefed WHO representatives on initiatives aimed at improving healthcare quality, ensuring accessible medical services at the grassroots level, enhancing the health system's capacity, and creating a modern, people-friendly healthcare system.

The WHO Bangladesh Office delegation included International Consultants Dr. Francisco Katayama and Professor Dr. Abul Kalam, along with Liaison and Coordination Officer Md Mohsin Azad.
