Government Prepares for Peaceful Durga Puja Celebration

Dhaka:State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku announced that the government has made extensive preparations to ensure a peaceful celebration of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Bangalee Hindu community.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku emphasized that various units of the government's law enforcement agencies are working in coordination to ensure the smooth celebration of the festival. This statement was made during a special meeting focused on security and other relevant issues for the Durga Puja celebrations at the Upazila Parishad.

Security measures have been heightened with the installation of closed-circuit cameras at puja mandaps, and law enforcement agencies are maintaining constant surveillance. The authorities are also consulting with puja celebration committees to address their requirements effectively.

Tuku further stated that the government is committed to fulfilling the expectations of the people. He noted that individuals who have committed crimes and fled the country would not be allowed to return, and those engaged in criminal activities will be prosecuted under existing laws.

The meeting was chaired by Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanom, with Dhaka-19 MP Dr. Dewan Md. Salahuddin Babu and Savar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saiful Islam also in attendance.
