Rajshahi:A two-day training program has commenced for officers and employees of the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) focusing on the operation and maintenance of irrigation equipment.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the training was inaugurated at the BMDA headquarters in Rajshahi, aiming to enhance the effectiveness, sustainability, and modernization of irrigation management in the Barind region. BMDA Executive Director Jahangir Alam Khan officiated the event as the chief guest, while Jinnurain Khan, Superintending Engineer of the Research and Training Branch of BMDA, served as the course director.
During the inaugural ceremony, speakers emphasized the importance of efficient irrigation system management, noting that proper machinery use and regular maintenance could increase system sustainability and reduce costs and faults. Jahangir Alam Khan highlighted that agricultural production in the Barind region heavily relies on irrigation, underscoring the necessity of proper equipment operation and maintenance.
Khan also stressed the need for BMDA's irrigation management to align with modern technology for enhanced efficiency and cost-effectiveness. He encouraged participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge to improve service quality in their workplaces.
The training involves 30 trainees, including BMDA officers and employees, as well as engineers and technical officers from various levels participating as trainers.
