Thakurgaon:President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed concerns that drug abuse is a significant barrier to the nation's progress. During a meeting with a cultural group from Thakurgaon, he emphasized the need for an intensified social campaign to combat this issue.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, The President highlighted the destructive impact of drug abuse on young lives, families, and society. He warned that the failure to protect the youth from drug addiction could impede the country's desired progress. He called for the engagement of social and voluntary organizations in addressing this challenge.
Mirza Fakhrul stressed the importance of public awareness and promoting education, culture, knowledge, science, and human values for local development. He acknowledged Ahban's contributions through initiatives such as school-based science festivals, inclusive sports tournaments, medical camps, and support for the underprivileged.
The President urged young people and professionals to contribute to the economic and agricultural development of Thakurgaon. He encouraged support for marginalized communities and financially disadvantaged students, as well as facilitating access to government services.
