Dhaka:The general point-to-point inflation rate in Bangladesh reached 8.34 percent in September 2026, up from 8.26 percent in August, according to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inflation rate for September this year was slightly lower than the 8.36 percent recorded during the same month last year. Food inflation saw an increase to 7.22 percent in September from 7.02 percent in August, whereas non-food inflation slightly decreased to 9.30 percent from 9.32 percent in the previous month.
In rural areas, the general inflation rate rose to 8.38 percent in September from 8.31 percent in August, remaining lower than the 8.47 percent recorded in September 2025. Rural food inflation increased to 7.18 percent from 7.01 percent, while non-food inflation saw a minor decline to 9.57 percent from 9.59 percent.
Urban areas experienced a rise in general inflation to 8.26 percent in September from 8.20 percent in August. Urban food inflation climbed to 7.25 percent from 7.04 percent, while non-food inflation slightly decreased to 8.94 percent from 8.97 percent in the previous month. In September 2025, urban food and non-food inflation were recorded at 7.94 percent and 8.51 percent, respectively.
