Bangladesh National Hockey Teams Return After Asian Games Campaign

Dhaka:The Bangladesh national men's and women's hockey teams have returned home following their participation in the Asian Games held in Japan.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this was a historic event for the women's team as they competed in the Asian Games for the first time, finishing ninth out of twelve teams. During the group stage, they faced tough opponents, losing to China 13-0, Malaysia 3-1, and South Korea 8-0. They managed to secure a 3-3 draw against Kazakhstan but later lost 3-2 to Chinese Taipei. In a thrilling ninth-place match, Bangladesh triumphed over Singapore 2-1 in a shootout after a 1-1 draw.

The men's team finished in seventh place. In the group phase, they suffered losses to South Korea 5-0 and Japan 6-1 but secured victories against Sri Lanka 5-1 and Indonesia 3-1. Despite a heavy 10-0 defeat to India in their final group match, the men's team concluded their campaign positively, defeating Thailand 3-0 to secure seventh place.
