Dhaka:A Dhaka court has granted bail to Major General (retd) Golam Mohiuddin Chowdhury in connection with an attack, vandalism, and looting incident at a New Gini Properties housing project, which includes content creator Salman Mohammad Muqtadir's 'Brownfish' Studio in the South Manikdi area.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the bail was granted by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junayed following a petition from the defense. Mohiuddin was released on a Tk 2,000 bond pending the next court date.
The court has scheduled the submission of the investigation report for October 28. Mohiuddin had been arrested by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police from a residence in the Segunbagicha area on September 30.
The case was filed by Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, Director of New Gini Properties, after the attack occurred near the ECB Chattar on September 26. The complaint detailed that a group armed with weapons entered the project area, opened fire, and attacked using machetes, knives, and sticks, causing significant damage and theft.
Salman Muqtadir's studio was specifically targeted, with looting of cash, laptops, computers, cameras, and professional media equipment. Vehicles were also damaged during the incident. Several individuals, including site engineer Md Parvez, sustained injuries.
The total losses reported amounted to approximately Tk 1.42 crore, with stolen goods valued at around Tk 1.50 crore. The case named thirteen individuals and accused an additional 150 to 200 unidentified persons.
