102 Teachers Honoured on World Teachers’ Day

Dhaka:The government honoured 102 distinguished teachers from various levels of education on Monday, recognizing their contributions to education and nation-building.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the awards were presented by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at a discussion organized by the Ministry of Education at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital, held in celebration of World Teachers' Day 2026.

Each teacher received Tk 200,000, a crest, and a certificate of recognition. The recipients included 10 teachers from the primary level, 20 from the secondary level, 25 from colleges, 20 from general universities, 10 from medical colleges and universities, three from agricultural universities, three from engineering universities, and four from other specialized universities.

Notable recipients included the late educationist and former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, former Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Anwarullah Chowdhury, and National Professor Dr. Mahbub Ullah. Additionally, seven teachers selected by the Prime Minister were also honoured.

Tarique Rahman congratulated the awardees and paid tribute to teachers from primary schools to universities. World Teachers' Day is observed globally on October 5 each year to highlight the importance of teachers' dignity, rights, professional development, and quality education. This program in Bangladesh aligns with global efforts to recognize teachers' outstanding contributions to nation-building.
