Dhaka:A Dhaka court has denied the bail petition of actor Ashraful Haque Don in connection with the case surrounding the death of film star Salman Shah.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Manjurul Islam, as confirmed by Additional Public Prosecutor Muhammad Shamsuddoha Sumon. Don's lawyer submitted the bail petition, arguing that he was innocent and had been wrongfully implicated in the case.

The petition presented seven arguments, asserting that reviews of two inquest reports, two autopsy reports, and the viscera and chemical examination reports indicated that Salman Shah's death was a suicide. It also claimed that Don had no knowledge of the incident and was being harassed.

Don was arrested on August 9 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by immigration police and subsequently handed over to the CID. He has been in custody since then, with a previous bail petition rejected on August 12. His lawyer argued that he was entitled to bail under the law due to the length of his detention.

The case against Don and several others, including Salman Shah's former wife Samira Haque and businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai, was filed by Salman Shah's maternal uncle, Mohammad Alomgir Kumkum, on October 20 of the previous year. On the same date, a court directed the officer-in-charge of Ramna Police Station to register the initial unnatural death case as a murder case.
