Dhaka:Bangladesh: At a seminar held at the Bangladesh Bank Training Academy, experts emphasized the necessity for Bangladesh to enhance its digital finance and fintech capabilities. This includes ensuring secure data management, interoperability, and technological capacity to prepare the banking sector for future challenges.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seminar, titled 'Digital Finance, Fintech and Future of Banking in Bangladesh', took place on September 29. Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Dr. Md Habibur Rahman was the chief guest, and BBTA Executive Director Md Obayed Ullah Chowdhury gave the welcome address.
Muhammad Manzur Mahmud, President of DataSoft Systems Bangladesh Limited, presented a keynote paper outlining current trends in digital finance, fintech, and technology use in the financial sector. The presentation also covered the rapid expansion of digital banking and potential for future technology-driven innovations.
A panel discussion followed, featuring Dhaka Bank PLC Managing Director Osman Ershad Foyez, Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Md Ashraful Alam, among others. The session, moderated by Md Obayed Ullah Chowdhury, focused on the need for effective technology use in expanding digital finance, developing innovative services, and preparing the banking sector for the future.
The speakers also discussed the importance of a 'One Person, One ID' system, improved data management, secure data sharing, and wider use of artificial intelligence. They stressed the need for banks to enhance technological capacity and expand innovative services to meet changing customer needs.
The seminar concluded with a question-and-answer session where participants engaged with speakers and panelists on issues related to digital finance, fintech, digital banking, and technology-based financial services. Senior executives and faculty members from Bangladesh Bank and BBTA attended the event.
