Dhaka:Remittances from expatriate workers to Bangladesh reached $8.979 billion between July 1 and October 4 of the current fiscal year 2026-27, marking a 16.2% increase compared to the $7.726 billion received during the same period in the previous fiscal year 2025-26.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, data from Bangladesh Bank indicates that the country received $388 million in remittances from October 1 to October 4, 2026. This amount represents a significant 175% year-on-year growth from the $141 million received during the same period last year.
On October 4 alone, expatriate Bangladeshis sent $181 million back home. The sustained increase in remittance inflows is anticipated to bolster the nation's foreign exchange reserves and alleviate pressure on the balance of payments.
