Dhaka:According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman recently announced a government initiative to launch the 'Shishu Swarga' project. This project aims to provide healthcare and rehabilitation services for children with special needs, addressing issues that families face in securing treatment and education for their children.

The project will initially be launched in 10 upazilas across 10 districts, with the government focusing on creating an inclusive society. Prime Minister Rahman has emphasized the importance of disability-friendly infrastructure, education, and healthcare facilities, urging ministries to ensure the rights and protection of persons with disabilities.

Journalist Mohsina Laizu shared her personal challenges with her son Anshuman Rio, who has autism. She recounted the difficulties in obtaining proper diagnostic and therapeutic support, highlighting the financial burden of specialized care. Despite these challenges, Rio has made progress, learning to manage daily activities and acquiring new skills.

Laizu's experience underscores the broader struggles faced by families of children with special needs in the country. The Shishu Swarga project aims to address these challenges, providing necessary support and resources to improve the quality of life for affected children and their families.

Public health expert Lelin Chowdhury explained that children with special needs require additional attention and care due to differences in physical, mental, or behavioral characteristics. He noted that raising such children is a long-term responsibility that often requires continuous effort from parents to ensure their development and future planning.
