Kushtia:Islamic University organized a day-long Industry-Academia collaboration program on Saturday, bringing together 27 leading industries to connect students with corporate employers and create employment opportunities.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the event was held at the university's central auditorium with Prof Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, finance and planning advisor to the Prime Minister, as the chief guest. The program was chaired by IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AKM Motinur Rahman, with Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Amtaj Hossain and Treasurer Prof Dr Idrish Ali attending as special guests. Acting Registrar Prof Dr Atiqur Rahman delivered the welcome speech.
The industries represented included IFAD Group, Nestle Bangladesh PLC, PRAN-RFL Group, Square Food and Beverage Ltd, Anwar Group of Industries, and Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, among others. Notable participants also included companies such as Grameenphone, bKash, BRAC, and DBC News.
Prof Dr AKM Motinur Rahman emphasized the importance of building a bridge between industries and academia, stating that the university is committed to knowledge creation, innovation, and practical education to help students connect with potential employers. He also mentioned the university's readiness to sign Memorandums of Understanding with participating industries and plans to introduce a 3-credit course related to industry education across all departments.
Chief guest Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir highlighted the contributions of Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia in creating employment opportunities in Bangladesh. He noted that the current government is continuing these efforts to support youth employment. He also stressed the importance of innovation, skill development, and fostering citizenship as key responsibilities of a university.
