Rajshahi:The National Dengue Prevention and Cleanliness Campaign-2026 was launched in Rajshahi, emphasizing public awareness and cleanliness as key measures to combat dengue.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district administration led the campaign at Nazrul Village, promoting the slogan, "Be aware to prevent dengue, stay healthy." Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam, who was the chief guest, highlighted dengue prevention as a shared responsibility beyond just the administration.

Kazi Shahidul Islam explained that Aedes mosquitoes, which carry dengue, breed in clean, stagnant water. He urged vigilance in preventing water accumulation at homes, offices, and other places. Regular cleaning of potential water collection sites like rooftops, balconies, flower pots, and discarded containers was recommended as part of the preventive strategy.

The deputy commissioner also advocated for integrating cleanliness into daily routines rather than limiting it to campaign periods. He called for coordinated efforts among the administration, public, educational institutions, and organizations to effectively tackle dengue.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Sabur Ali, Senior Assistant Commissioner Abhijit Sarkar, and other officials participated in the event. A subsequent cleanliness drive at Nazrul Village identified and cleared potential mosquito breeding sites, further raising public awareness.
