Tangail:State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku announced that the government is actively working to enhance law and order and eradicate drugs from society.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku emphasized the importance of awareness programs, including sports activities, to ensure school students engage in positive activities such as sports and cultural events, thus avoiding involvement with drugs. He made these remarks while speaking to journalists at the inauguration of the first Community Police Kabaddi Championship-2026, organized by the district police at the Tangail Police Lines ground.

A committee has already been established under community policing to collectively improve the law and order situation. Tuku noted that drugs are not produced domestically but are brought into Bangladesh from other countries with the intent to harm the youth.

He urged political leaders and activists to avoid lobbying concerning drugs and to educate people from their respective positions. Additionally, he stated that the police force would take stringent measures against any members involved in drug-related activities.

The event, presided over by Tangail Police Superintendent Muhammad Shamsul Alam Sarker, also featured several officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Selim Mia and other police superintendents. Following the kabaddi competition, meritorious students from Police Lines Adarsha High School who achieved top grades in the 2026 SSC examinations were honored. State Minister Tuku presented crests to these students.
