Cumilla:Agriculture Minister Mohammed Aminur Rashid announced that the government will initiate training programs for imams and muezzins to promote awareness about the production of safe and chemical-free food, as well as the use of modern agricultural technologies.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister emphasized the potential role of imams and muezzins, who are connected with mosques across the country, in raising public awareness about agriculture. He highlighted that their involvement could also contribute to their economic self-reliance.

Addressing a conference organized by the Bangladesh Hafez Welfare Foundation at the Cumilla Town Hall ground, Aminur stressed the importance of reducing excessive pesticide use to produce safe and chemical-free crops. He pointed out that farmers in the past cultivated various crops without chemical inputs and advocated for developing an environmentally friendly agricultural system that combines traditional practices with modern technology.

The minister noted that agriculture officers usually advise farmers on modern agricultural technologies and methods. Involving imams and muezzins in this initiative could expedite the dissemination of awareness messages about safe food production to the public.

The conference was presided over by Hafez Mawlana Md Tajul Islam, with Cumilla City Corporation administrator Md. Yusuf Molla also addressing the attendees. During the event, certificates and commemorative awards were presented to students who passed the third Hifzul Quran Scholarship Examination.
