Kushtia:Islamic University (IU) organized the Industry-Academia Collaboration-2026 program today to enhance ties between academia and industry, aiming to create better employment opportunities for graduates. The event, themed "Harmony between Education and Industry Solution to Employment," took place at the Bir Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman Auditorium and focused on aligning university education and research with industry needs.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the program was presided over by IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr A K M Motinur Rahman, with Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser to the Prime Minister's Office on the Ministry of Finance and Planning, serving as the chief guest. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr Amtaj Hossain and Treasurer Dr Idris Ali were special guests, and Registrar Dr Atiqur Rahman delivered the welcome address. Dr Abdus Shahid Mia, dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and convener of the program, also spoke at the event.
The gathering included representatives from leading industrial and business organizations such as Rajbari Jute Mills Ltd, BenQ Industry, Technodera Industry, and several others, aiming to foster partnerships that could lead to practical opportunities for students entering the workforce.
Prof Dr Motinur Rahman emphasized that universities should not only provide certificates but also foster knowledge and practical education to help students transition into the workforce. He highlighted IU's readiness to sign memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with various institutions to enhance collaboration and announced plans to introduce a three-credit, industry-oriented course in the curriculum to better equip students for professional opportunities.
Chief guest Dr Titumir highlighted the historical contributions to employment opportunities in Bangladesh by "Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman" and former prime minister Khaleda Zia. He emphasized the need for coordination among production, investment, and skills development to achieve sustainable economic growth, outlining the government's 3R strategy€š¬…¡¬‚¬Å¡¬Recovery, Restoration, and Reconstruction for Accelerator.
