Khulna:World Lions Day and the October Service Programme-2026 of Lions International were marked today with a variety of community activities, including a rally, voluntary blood donation, tree plantation, and mosquito control programmes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the day's events were jointly organized by the Khulna Sundarban Lions Club, Khulna Metropolitan Lions Club, Paigram Kasba Lions Club, and Khulna Mangrove Lions Club. The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator, Nazrul Islam Manju, inaugurated a vibrant rally from the Khulna Press Club premises, which saw participation from leaders, members, and volunteers of Lions International.
During the inaugural ceremony, KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju commended the Lions clubs for their humanitarian efforts, emphasizing that initiatives such as voluntary blood donation, tree plantation, and public health measures have the potential to positively impact society. He further pledged his support for their future welfare activities.
The day's programmes, held under the theme "Together We Rise, Together We Thrive," focused on promoting humanitarian service, environmental conservation, and public health protection. Special guest Md Tarikul Islam, General Secretary of the Khulna Press Club, was also present at the event.
Following the initial rally, another colorful rally was inaugurated by KCC Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju at the Lions Club premises in the Iqbalnagar area of the city. This rally, part of the World Lions Service Day and the October Service Programme-2026 celebrations, proceeded along the city's main roads before concluding at the Lions Club office.
