Dhaka:The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has announced an extension for submitting applications for gazette enlistment as Bir Muktijoddha, or Valiant Freedom Fighter. The revised deadline is set for 7 October 2026.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a gazette notification was issued on Thursday, urging eligible individuals to submit their applications within the new timeline. It was emphasized that no applications will be accepted after this date.
A memorandum from the Gazette Branch of the Ministry requested the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Branch to ensure the public notice is published on the Ministry's website. The memorandum was signed by Under Secretary Haridas Thakur.
Previously, applications and verification activities for enlistment as Bir Muktijoddha were conducted periodically. The enlistment is finalized through a prescribed process that includes verifying the applicant's role during the Liberation War, along with relevant documents and information.
The verification of applications involves the National Freedom Fighters Council and the relevant administrative structure to ensure a thorough and accurate process.
