State Minister Urges Faster Fieldwork to Enhance Fisheries and Livestock Sectors

Chattogram:State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, emphasized the significant potential of the country's fisheries and livestock sectors to fulfill domestic needs and enhance export capabilities. He stressed the importance of responsible and accelerated field-level work to achieve these goals.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister addressed officials at a meeting in Chattogram Circuit House, urging them to support marginal farmers who face challenges such as low production and high costs due to a lack of information. He highlighted the need for field officials to provide proper guidance to farmers to help increase production while reducing costs.

The minister pointed out issues like the misuse of antibiotics by poultry farmers and emphasized the importance of educating them on maintaining cleanliness and providing appropriate feed quantities. He mentioned collaboration with feed manufacturers to ensure high-quality feed availability, which is crucial for ensuring food safety.

Salauddin Tuku also discussed efforts made during the last Eid-ul-Adha to protect local farmers and prevent illegal livestock entry, resulting in a surplus of cattle. He noted that nearly 100 crore Taka worth of beef was exported this year, with expectations of further growth. Plans to establish modern meat processing plants in divisional cities and expand existing farms were also mentioned, underscoring the need for prompt action by officials for the country's welfare.
