Thakurgaon:A total of 2,137 people received farmers' cards today as part of a government initiative designed to provide genuine farmers with agricultural services, inputs, incentives, and various forms of assistance in an easy and transparent manner.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman virtually inaugurated the nationwide farmers' card distribution programme via a video conference this afternoon.
The card distribution event took place at the Nargun High School ground in Nargun Union of Sadar Upazila. During the event, 965 farmers from the Kaharpara block of Nargun Union in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila and 1,172 farmers from Kujishahar block of Ruhia area received the cards along with Tk 2,500 each as agricultural input assistance.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Haque, Thakurgaon Police Superintendent Belal Hossain, and Deputy Director of the District Agricultural Extension Department Majedul Islam were among the officials present at the event.
