Rangpur:The 123rd syndicate meeting of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), has resulted in the permanent dismissal of 11 individuals, the demotion of three faculty members, and the naming of a new female students' hall.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was held on Wednesday afternoon in the university's administrative building conference room, chaired by Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md Showkat Ali.
The decision to permanently dismiss three teachers and eight officers or staff members was made following the final verdict of International Crimes Tribunal-2 in relation to the killing of Abu Sayed, a student from the Department of English, during the anti-discrimination student movement.
In addition, the syndicate unanimously approved naming the female students' hall currently under construction as 'Begum Khaleda Zia Hall.' Furthermore, the meeting concluded with the decision to demote three faculty members due to allegations of sexual harassment.
