Sirajganj:Police have arrested eight members of an inter-district theft gang and recovered 94 stolen Android mobile phones during a joint operation on the Jamuna Bridge West Link Road in Sirajganj.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the individuals arrested include Alauddin, Robiul, Israfil, Hridoy, Al-Amin, Akkas, Imran, and Yasin Arafat, who are residents of various districts including Cumilla, Chattogram, Narsingdi, and Brahmanbaria. The arrests followed a search of a passenger bus by police from three different stations.
The Officer-in-Charge of Jamuna Bridge West Police Station, Amirul Islam, stated that the gang had stolen the phones from Masud Telecom, a shop in the Dhunat municipality area of Bogura, by cutting through the shop's shutter early on Wednesday. The suspects were apprehended while attempting to flee towards Dhaka on a Shyamoli Paribahan bus.
Police utilized CCTV footage from the shop and information gathered from local CNG stand drivers to track the suspects' movements. They discovered that the suspects had hired two CNG-run auto-rickshaws to reach the Sherpur bus stand in Bogura, where they boarded the bus.
Following directives from senior police officials, a coordinated effort involving teams from Jamuna Bridge West Police Station, Sirajganj Highway Police Station, and Dhunat Police Station led to the successful capture of the suspects in the Jamuna Bridge area. A case has been filed with the relevant police station regarding the incident.
