Home Minister Announces Intensified Crackdown on Criminal Activities

Dhaka:Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has declared that efforts against terrorists, armed criminals, drug dealers, and extortionists are ongoing and will be further intensified.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Salahuddin Ahmed stated that police maintain and regularly update lists of such criminals. This information is often published in the media, reflecting the number of arrests made. He emphasized that the country's law and order should not be judged by isolated incidents, as the government is committed to ensuring public safety and societal peace.

The Home Minister highlighted the government's stance on treating criminals equally, regardless of any political affiliations. He assured that police respond promptly to reports made to the national emergency service and take necessary legal actions. Salahuddin Ahmed confirmed that any individuals involved in criminal activities, irrespective of their political connections, would face strict action.

Regarding specific cases, such as an incident in Mirpur involving a former lawmaker, the Home Minister mentioned that investigations are ongoing. In another case at Radda Clinic, a police officer was found negligent and has been withdrawn, with departmental action initiated against him. He clarified that there was no political involvement in the Radda MCH-FP centre incident, although some involved may have political identities. The government is taking legal actions without considering political affiliations.
