Kuala Lumpur:Prime Minister's Public Administration Adviser Md Ismail Zabihullah has stated that the government is actively fostering a favorable environment for foreign investment to aid in the reconstruction and economic reform of the country.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Zabihullah emphasized the government's prioritization of attracting foreign investment and reinforcing the nation's economic foundation during a view-exchange meeting organized by Malaysia BNP and its affiliated organizations in Kuala Lumpur.
He urged Malaysian investors and expatriate Bangladeshi entrepreneurs to channel significant investments into Bangladesh, assuring them of the government's full support. Zabihullah highlighted the potential contributions of the over 1.5 million Bangladeshis currently working in Malaysia, whose skills and experiences could significantly benefit the country's development.
He called on Bangladeshi expatriates with specialized expertise to consider returning home to aid in national development efforts. Zabihullah noted the historic role of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in initiating Bangladesh's manpower export, which now sees over 10 million Bangladeshis working globally, contributing to the economy through remittances.
Zabihullah also mentioned plans by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to introduce a "Probashi Card" to enhance the connection between the state and expatriates. The government is implementing measures to minimize harassment at airports and provide better services to expatriates, along with plans to create housing and investment opportunities starting in Sylhet.
Further initiatives aim to facilitate investments by expatriates and improve access to education and entrepreneurship opportunities for young people. Zabihullah shared Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's vision of transforming Bangladesh into a trillion-dollar economy by 2034, with expatriate contributions playing a crucial role.
At the meeting, various representatives voiced concerns and expectations of expatriate Bangladeshis, urging improvements in employment conditions and consular services. The event featured speeches from Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Manzurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, Malaysia BNP President Engineer Badlur Rahman Badal, and other notable figures.
