Dhaka:Jahangirnagar University Journalists from Jahangirnagar University have concluded a three-day training program focusing on multimedia, artificial intelligence, and fact-checking, organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB).
According to United News of Bangladesh, the training concluded with a ceremony held at the university's Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, where participants received guidance on fact-checking, information verification, video verification, cybersecurity, and multimedia journalism ethics.
The training, which began on September 25, was led by PIB Training Coordinator Zilhaj Uddin Nipun and attended by 35 campus correspondents from various media outlets. The closing ceremony featured JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md Nurul Islam as the chief guest, with PIB Director General Faruk Wasif presiding over the event.
Professor Nurul Islam emphasized the integration of technology in journalism, highlighting the need for journalists to master skills in fact-checking and information verification to remain objective. He urged journalists to maintain honesty and objectivity in their reporting.
PIB Director General Faruk Wasif stressed the importance of professional excellence and integrity in journalism, underscoring the responsibility of journalists to question authority and support the public. He noted that training, while crucial, must be complemented by personal commitment and continuous learning.
The program was moderated by JU Journalists Association President Mah Alam, with additional remarks from JU Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Md Shamsul Alam, Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Treasurer Professor Dr. Md Sohel Rana, and JU Press Club President SM Tawhid.
