Dhaka:Candidates recommended for government primary school assistant teacher positions staged a protest at Shahbagh on Sunday, expressing frustration over not receiving their appointment letters.
According to United News of Bangladesh, these candidates, who had successfully completed the required examinations and submitted all necessary documents, gathered from various parts of the country. They assembled in front of Dhaka University Central Library and marched to Shahbagh, where they began their sit-in around 11 a.m., demanding that their appointment letters be issued by the end of the day.
The protesters revealed that approximately 2,500 candidates did not receive their appointment letters as expected, following the issuance of the final lists on September 24. One protester from Bogura expressed their determination not to leave until a positive response was received from the authorities.
Many of the candidates shared their personal struggles, with some breaking down in tears as they recounted the financial and emotional hardships caused by the delay. They had already informed their families and friends about securing government jobs, only to find themselves in a state of uncertainty.
