Bandarban:Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Sa Ching Prue has expressed his ambition to transform Bandarban into a clean and tourist-friendly city. This goal aims to be achieved through coordinated efforts involving local political leaders, businesspeople, government officials, private sector representatives, and various professional organizations.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these remarks during a stakeholder exchange meeting at the Bandarban Deputy Commissioner's Office, held in observance of World Tourism Day 2026.
Discussions at the meeting focused on enhancing tourism development, maintaining discipline within the town, and improving the environment and quality of life around the Sangu River. Prue emphasized the need for stronger security measures to facilitate hassle-free visits by both domestic and foreign tourists. He addressed concerns such as traffic congestion and urged locals to be cordial with visitors.
The minister underscored the importance of maintaining cleanliness throughout the town, beginning at the individual level, with accountability and coordination as key factors. He also highlighted the potential benefits of integrating modern technology into hill agriculture, particularly in coffee and cashew cultivation, and encouraged officials to support farmers in these endeavors.
To address water shortages in the hills, Prue advocated for the use of environment-friendly technologies to conserve rainwater and water from streams, rivers, and lakes. He called upon development organizations to play a more active role in improving the welfare of marginalized communities.
