Mirpur:National Citizen Party (NCP) Spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has called for the immediate arrest of individuals responsible for the recent attack, vandalism, and looting at the Radda MCH-FP Centre in the capital's Mirpur area. He also urged a neutral investigation into the incident.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Asif Mahmud visited the health centre with party leaders and activists to assess the damage caused by the vandalism and looting. During his visit, he interacted with patients still receiving treatment and demanded the swift rebuilding of the damaged centre and restoration of health services.
NCP activists removed a signboard of a shopkeepers' co-operatives society that had been placed in front of the centre. Asif emphasized the long-standing role of the facility in providing essential maternal and child healthcare services, including vaccinations, and condemned the destruction as unacceptable.
He reported that medicines, vaccines, injections, and medical equipment were stolen during the incident. Asif alleged that the vandalism was not an isolated event, implicating a BNP lawmaker, a city corporation administrator, and local police in what he described as 'organised crime' and 'state-sponsored looting.'
Furthermore, he criticized the police for their conduct, claiming they were present at the start of the vandalism but left the scene, only returning after the incident concluded. Asif demanded accountability from those involved in the attack and those accused of negligence.
He assured that the Radda clinic would not be seized and that health workers would strive to maintain maternal and child healthcare services despite the destruction.
