Dhaka:A court has scheduled November 3 as the deadline for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit a report on its continued investigation into the high-profile murder of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson, Sharif Osman Hadi.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Jashita Islam, issued the order after the CID failed to provide the report by the earlier date.
The directive for further investigation was initially given on January 15, 2026, after the complainant expressed dissatisfaction with the initial findings and filed a naraji petition. This petition challenged the charge sheet submitted by the Detective Branch (DB) of police and requested additional investigation.
The charge sheet, submitted by DB Inspector Foysal Ahmed on January 6, implicated 17 individuals, including the alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud and his parents, Humayun Kabir and Hashi Begum.
The case statement details that on December 12, 2025, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain allegedly shot Hadi while he was in a battery-operated auto-rickshaw. Following the incident, Foysal Karim fled the scene.
Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber filed the case with Paltan Model Police Station on December 14. Initially filed as an attempted murder case, it was later upgraded to a murder case after Hadi's death on December 18. On December 20, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddique Azad ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code in the case.
