Dhaka:The Parliamentary Special Committee on Constitution Amendment has set a goal to finalize its report by December 2026, as determined during its third meeting held at the Sangsad Bhaban's Cabinet Room. The meeting was chaired by Salahuddin Ahmed, who serves as both the committee chairman and the Home Minister.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the meeting was attended by editors from various national dailies, along with representatives from the National Press Club and news agencies. These attendees shared proposals concerning various issues related to the constitutional amendment.
The special committee has invited individuals with additional written proposals to submit them for consideration. Furthermore, the committee plans to engage representatives from different societal and state sectors in future meetings to discuss the constitutional amendment.
The meeting was attended by committee members including Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Home Affairs Ministry Zainul Abedin, and several state ministers such as Md. Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin, and Farzana Sharmin. Other attendees included Shakila Farzana, Md Mahmudul Hoque Rubel, Parliament Secretary Barrister Md Golam Sorwar Bhuiyan, and high officials from the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry.
