Dhaka:Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen expressed his belief that the future of relations between Bangladesh and China will continue to strengthen and broaden. Speaking at an event celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, he emphasized the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the event was attended by Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, along with senior political leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties, ministers, senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, civil society representatives, and journalists.
Ambassador Yao, who is set to leave his post in Dhaka early next month after serving for three years and nine months, reflected on his time in Bangladesh, expressing deep attachment and admiration for the country's resilience and dignity. He noted the significant political transformations and historic choices made by Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, and expressed confidence in the country's bright future.
The Ambassador highlighted the dynamic spirit of Bangladesh's youth, whom he described as the nation's most valuable asset. Over the years, he has witnessed the rapid transformation of Bangladesh and has formed many lasting friendships with its people.
This year marks several important anniversaries, including the 105th anniversary of the Communist Party of China and the 51st anniversary of Bangladesh-China diplomatic ties. Additionally, it is the 10th anniversary of the China-Bangladesh Belt and Road cooperation. Ambassador Yao reiterated China's support for Bangladesh's governance, independence, and sovereignty, opposing external interference and advocating for Bangladesh's greater role in regional and international affairs.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's recent visit to China elevated bilateral relations, establishing a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future. Ambassador Yao concluded by wishing for the continued prosperity and happiness of both nations and their peoples.
