Dhaka: Detectives have arrested four individuals in connection with a crude bomb blast that occurred in front of Jatrabari police station, leaving a passerby seriously injured on Friday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Md Rayhan Uddin, 35, Russell Khan, 32, Ala Uddin, 28, and Abdullah, 28.
According to United News of Bangladesh, law enforcement officials recovered four crude bombs from the Lalbagh area based on information provided by one of the arrestees. DMP's additional deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division), Niaz Mehedi, confirmed this development. Following the incident on Friday, the DB Wari division scrutinized CCTV footage, which led to the identification of the suspects involved in the blast.
A team from the Detective Branch (DB) apprehended Rayhan in the Bangshal area on Saturday. Information obtained from him led to the recovery of the crude bombs, which were wrapped in red adhesive tape and hidden in a sack of brick chips beside a pillar in the parking area of a 10-storey building on Zen Saha Road in Lalbagh on Sunday. The remaining three suspects were later apprehended from the Dogair area under Demra Police Station.
Initial investigations revealed that the arrested individuals were active members of a banned political organization. A case has been filed against them under the Explosive Substantive Act at Jatrabari Police Station. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend others involved in the blast, stated Niaz Mehedi.
