Sirajganj: A case has been filed against 21 members of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), naming 10 activists, following an attack on a Jamaat-e-Islami leader in Sirajganj. The incident occurred on Saturday, and the legal action was initiated by Shohar Bhanu, the wife of the victim, Abdus Sabur. The complaint was lodged at the Sadar Police Station, as confirmed by Rakibul Hasan, the officer-in-charge.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the police have commenced an operation to apprehend the accused individuals. On the day of the attack, Jamaat activists had assembled in the Saydabad area to welcome the motorcade of the 11-party alliance's Dhaka-Rangpur long march. After the procession moved towards Rangpur, the Jamaat activists were on their way back home when Abdus Sabur was reportedly attacked and severely injured by a group of individuals.
The officer-in-charge also reported that Nurnabi, another Jamaat leader, was assaulted during the same incident. Abdus Sabur has been hospitalized in critical condition at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.
