Dhaka: Mahbubur Rahman, chairman and CEO of ETBL Holdings Limited, has been unanimously re-elected as the President of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Bangladesh for a two-year term. ICC is headquartered in Paris and operates in over 170 countries, representing 45 million companies and more than one billion workers globally. The organization plays a crucial role, as one in every three workers worldwide depends on ICC members for their livelihood. As a unique private sector non-sovereign organization, ICC holds the Status of a Permanent Observer at the United Nations General Assembly. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahbubur Rahman also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) and Chairman of Eastland Insurance PLC. His extensive experience includes serving as the former President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). Moreover, he was the Founding Vice President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vice President for West Asia of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Board also unanimously elected two Vice Presidents: Rupali Chowdhury, President of the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and A K Azad, former President of FBCCI and Managing Director of Ha-Meem Group. The 19-member ICC Bangladesh Executive Board includes representatives from major business associations and industries across the country, such as FBCCI Administrator Md. Fazlul Hoque, DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed, and MCCI Dhaka President Kamran T. Rahman. Other notable members include leaders from the textile, insurance, garment, and banking sectors, among others.
