DCCI Delegation Set to Visit Malaysia to Bolster Trade and Investment

Kuala lumpur: A 39-member business delegation from the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), led by President Taskeen Ahmed, is scheduled to visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from September 22-25, 2026. The visit aims to enhance bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and Malaysia.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the delegation's visit will focus on expanding exports of Bangladeshi products with high potential in the Malaysian market and attracting Malaysian investments to Bangladesh. The High Commission of Bangladesh in Malaysia is providing comprehensive support to the DCCI delegation.

During the visit, the delegation will engage in trade discussions and participate in Business-to-Business (B2B) sessions with the Klang Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers, and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia, scheduled for September 23, 24, and 25, respectively. These meetings will offer Bangladeshi entrepreneurs opportunities to explore avenues for expanding bilateral trade and investment.

Additionally, the delegates will take part in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) in Kuala Lumpur on September 24, 2026. This event presents a platform for Bangladeshi businesses to engage with global halal industry leaders. The DCCI leadership will also meet with Malaysia's Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, and Deputy Minister of Finance, Liew Chin Tong.

It is noteworthy that Bangladeshi nationals constitute 37% of the foreign workforce in Malaysia, remitting US$3.40 billion to Bangladesh during the 2025-26 fiscal year. In FY2024-25, the total bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Malaysia amounted to approximately US$2.57 billion, with Bangladesh importing US$2.293 billion and exporting US$282 million.

Malaysian entrepreneurs have already invested US$755.48 million in Bangladesh, with significant investments in telecommunications, power, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, construction, and textiles. The DCCI delegation is set to return to Dhaka on September 25, 2026.
