Chittagong: Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Sa Ching Prue today sought cooperation from the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Ministry to improve connectivity in remote hill areas while preserving the region's environment and natural resources. He made the call during a meeting with LGRD Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan at his office at Bangladesh Secretariat.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during the meeting, the two ministers discussed strategies to enhance infrastructure in the hill tracts without compromising ecological balance. Emphasizing the importance of sustainable development, Minister Sa Ching Prue highlighted the need for better roads and communication facilities to boost socio-economic activities in the remote areas.
The CHT Affairs Minister underscored that improved connectivity is crucial for the economic and social upliftment of the indigenous communities residing in the hill tracts. He stressed that any development should be harmonious with the preservation of natural resources.
Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan expressed his willingness to support initiatives that align with the government's goals of sustainable development. He assured Minister Prue of the LGRD Ministry's assistance in planning and executing projects that would benefit the residents of the CHT region.
The meeting concluded with both ministers agreeing on the necessity of a collaborative approach to address the challenges faced by the hill tracts. They also proposed forming a joint task force to monitor and implement the development initiatives effectively.
