Dhaka: A court here today placed an individual named Sunny Saha on a two-day remand in connection with a case related to the alleged assault on Professor Dr. Asadur Rahman, the Chief of the Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Department at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah issued the remand order after police presented the accused in court and requested a 10-day remand. The case documents reveal that the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 pm on August 17. Prof Dr. Asadur Rahman was attacked while entering a CNG-run auto-rickshaw after attending to patients at Popular Diagnostic Centre in the Shantinagar area of the city.
The assailants, numbering five to six, intercepted his auto-rickshaw, forcibly removed him from the vehicle, and assaulted him, causing injuries to his head, eye, and nose. Dr. Asadur subsequently filed a case with Paltan Model Police Station the day after the incident.
